🧇 3Dudes1life’s Lazy Chicken & Waffles
Serves: 2–4
Total Time: ~25 minutes
Crispy meets fluffy in this sweet-meets-savory classic — the kind of meal that makes any morning feel like a diner special. We’re keeping it simple: box mix waffles and store-bought chicken, but you’d never know it.
🧂 Ingredients
🍗 Chicken
6–8 frozen breaded chicken strips (your favorite brand — spicy or classic)
🧇 Waffles (choose your path)
Option 1 – From Scratch:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
1¾ cups milk
½ cup melted butter (or vegetable oil)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Option 2 – From a Box Mix:
Follow package directions
Add 1 tsp vanilla and a pinch of cinnamon to elevate it
🍯 Toppings
Maple syrup or hot honey
Optional: butter, cinnamon, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar
👩🍳 Step-by-Step Directions
🔹 1. Bake the Chicken
Preheat oven according to package directions.
Place chicken strips on a baking sheet and cook until crispy (usually 18–22 minutes).
For extra crunch, switch to broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
🔹 2. Make the Waffles
If using a box mix: follow the package directions, but stir in vanilla and cinnamon before cooking. If making from scratch:
In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt).
In another bowl, whisk wet ingredients (eggs, milk, melted butter, vanilla).
Combine and stir just until smooth.
Cook in a preheated waffle iron until golden brown (about 3–4 minutes each).
🔹 3. Assemble & Serve
Stack waffles on plates.
Top each with 1–2 chicken strips.
Drizzle generously with maple syrup or hot honey.
Add a sprinkle of cinnamon or powdered sugar for a diner-style finish.
