Post 20: October Chaos & Cozy Vibes

Life has been great lately — a total whirlwind but in such an amazing way. Since our last blog, we’ve dropped three podcast episodes, finished the kitchen, started decorating for Halloween, and really started diving into Book 2. We’ve decided to keep most of the big, juicy topics for the podcast (because let’s be real, they’re way more fun to talk about in real time), but we’ll keep using the blog for updates and, now, recipes.
Yes, you read that right — recipes! We love to cook, and it just made sense to finally bring that side of us here. We’ve got four recipes out already, and we’ll be dropping new ones every Sunday morning at 12:01AM all the way through February 2026. We’ll keep testing and photographing more to stay ahead, but if you try something, let us know! If you love it, tell us; if you hate it, we can handle that too.

Now, back to the kitchen — literally. We finally figured out how to make cabinet doors and drawer fronts, and it’s a total game changer. We ended up painting all the lower cabinets black and keeping the natural wood tones on top, and honestly, it looks really good. It gives the kitchen a little modern edge while still keeping the character of the house. This might hold us over until we decide to gut it or just let the next owners deal with it someday.
The podcast is going great — thank you so much to everyone who’s been listening, sharing, and following along. We have three episodes out now and over 300 streams, getting close to 400 fast! It means so much that people actually care about what we’re saying (and laughing at our chaos). We’ll be recording the last three episodes of Season 1 later this month, and we’re planning to go LIVE on Instagram (@3Dudes1Life) for our Social Tea section on October 19 and 25. Come hang out, comment, and spill some tea with us!
Halloween decorating somehow turned into another full-blown home project, because of course it did. To get to the Halloween bins, we had to empty out our mini garage — and that turned into a scrub, patch, and repaint situation. Caleb found seven random paint cans the old owners left behind, mixed them all together, and somehow made this free, fabulous grayish-blue color. So while Daniel was off at brunch with some girlfriends, we flipped a garage. Apparently, every time he leaves, we do a renovation. 😂 It turned out great though, and now every single surface in this house has officially been painted or flipped since we moved in — which will be eight years ago this month.
We’ve got some Halloween decorations out now, but we’re keeping it light until closer to the big day. After the rainbow flag theft earlier this year, we’re not in a rush to put too much out too soon. Escondido has been… interesting lately. 😅 But rumor has it we might get interactive this year and actually try to scare some people once we get it all set up.

The garden, on the other hand, is completely done for the year. Our second round of pumpkins was a flop, and for the first time in years, we have none to share with our neighbors. It’s a little sad, but it’s also a reminder that even we have to adapt to this weird new climate. For now, we’re working our Mills compost into the soil to rebuild for 2026 and planning to focus on new techniques next season. The zinnias are still holding on, but that’s about it for 2025’s garden.
We also want to say thank you to everyone who’s read Book 1 and left us reviews. It means the world! That story really was just the tip of the iceberg for our throuple adventure. Right now, Will’s been writing Book 2 like crazy, trying to finish the full draft by November 1 so Caleb and Daniel can start editing. It’s wild how long the formatting and prep take for publishing, so the crunch is officially on. This next book slows things down a bit — more day-to-day throuple life and those big emotional moments that make it all real. Caleb’s already read the first 40 pages and loved it, so we’re feeling good about where it’s going.
If you still haven’t read Book 1, well… you’re fired. 😂 Kidding. But seriously, it’s 15% off on Shopify right now using promo code HISTORYMONTH for LGBTQ+ History Month — Or you can grab it for $2.99 on Kindle until the end of the month.
And for the most important update — Rigsby is doing amazing. He can officially walk about half a mile again on his nightly walks and even does downward dog stretches like a champ. Four months of rehab later, it’s so nice to see all the effort paying off. He’s got puppy energy again, talks constantly, and plays with Zoey every day. We really think we fixed something that had been bothering him since before we got him. Hopefully we’ve got a lot of good years ahead and a little Hawaiian retirement waiting for him someday.
That’s about it for now! We’ll try to get another blog out before or on Halloween, but in the meantime, thank you for being here — for reading, supporting, listening, and growing with us. You’re never alone in this wild world. We’ll all find success together, and love always wins.
With love,
DCW 💙💚💜
